EADP conference, Barcelona

EADP held a European conference on managing directories in Barcelona, May 24–25. Of special interest this year was the new-generation Directories 2.0, which is the same as Web 2.0 but with a concept applied to the directory industry. Topics this year included how the marketplace is changing and how users can be involved. Apptus business developer Michael Mokhberi held a talk on the topics of Data Enrichment and local marketplaces. Michael spoke of efficient ways of learning more about customers and making sure that sales forces don’t waste time on low-probability sales efforts. New advanced technology can be used to automate the process of data enrichment via URL detection, keyword suggestions and entity extractions. One of Apptus’s customers Eniro was also on stage, represented by Christer Pettersson, Online Manager Search in Sweden. Christer held a presentation on user-generated content and took up a number of interesting user cases.
