eCommerce personalisation and intelligent online merchandising provider builds on 20% revenue growth, big client wins and funding success.
London/Lund/Munich: Date 2016: Apptus, the eCommerce Personalisation and Intelligent Online Merchandising specialist has concluded two key hires for 2016, luring Jakob Bignert away from Evernote in California, and Fredrik Sjöholm from IT consultancy, Cybercom.
The move is designed to support aggressive EMEA expansion plans, following a year in which significant client wins drove 20% year on year revenue growth.
The firm has added big name clients to its roster in the last six months, including some of the world’s largest global fashion, electronics and homewares retailers. Specialists GoOutdoors.com and Junkyard.se have also signed up since the turn of the year. Those wins contributed to annual revenue growth.
Meanwhile, Apptus’ ongoing research and development, which will enable significant new releases over the course of 2016, has received a boost in the form of 2,407,500 SEK in research funding from Swedish Innovation Agency, Vinnova.
Bignert, a veteran of product development in the eCommerce sector, joins the company as Vice President of Product, and will oversee ongoing developments to the Apptus eSales platform. At Evernote Inc., Jakob was responsible for developing Evernote Web, Evernote Web Clipper, Evernote Clearly and the popular Evernote Business product for SMEs, taking it from zero to its first million dollars in sales.
Sjöholm, formerly head of sales for IT consultancy, Cybercom has been appointed Vice President of Sales, and is responsible for delivering Apptus’ ambitious growth plans. He brings over 20 years experience in sales and business development with international software and services organisations such as Telelogic (now part of IBM) and Saab Aerospace Group,

Thanks to its e-commerce personalisation solution, Apptus was able to beat several hundred competitors within in an open competition for a Vinnova “innovative business projects” grant. With its research project “Automated System for Objectives Driven Merchandising” the company is tackling changing trends in the market and setting new standards for automated and personalised e-commerce. Based on a self-learning unified solution, any online shop can be immediately adapted to fit individual user behaviour. The software company is using the grant to invest in further research based on its forward-looking strategy which implements automation as the future of ecommerce.
